SA Water has released its Water Security Response Plan for the Eyre Peninsula. The plan outlines 4 water security response levels and supporting actions required by the community, ranging from normal water availability (Level 1) to an extreme water shortage (Level 4). Based on the current availability of groundwater sources, which supply around 75% of the Peninsula’s drinking water, the region’s water response is currently at Level 2. Level 2 requests the community to be waterwise but does not involve water restrictions.
A key component of the plan is rebates on the purchase of new water-efficient appliances. This includes new showerheads, dual flush toilets and washing machines with 4-star ratings or higher, as well as pool covers and irrigation timers carrying a Smart Approved Watermark certification. The rebates will be available to eligible customers across the Eyre Peninsula from Monday 2 December.
