Growing Regions Program – Round 1 Successful Projects

On 16 May 2024 the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, the Hon Catherine King MP announced the successful projects to be funded through the $300 million available under Round 1 of the Growing Regions Program.

The program will deliver community and economic benefits by investing in community-focused infrastructure which revitalises regions and enhances amenity and liveability throughout regional Australia. This first round of funding will deliver priority projects in our regions – projects that will leave a lasting legacy for local communities while supporting jobs and strengthening regional economies during construction.

Congratulations to the District Council of Lower Eyre Peninsula – Coffin Bay Foreshore Project: The project will develop a town centre car park and bus park, an esplanade and walking trail.

Thriving Regions Fund – Enabling Infrastructure Funding Program

The Enabling Infrastructure Program provides support for enabling infrastructure with a focus on place-based solutions and implementation through an integrated approach to achieving regional wellbeing and liveability.

Projects need to align with the priorities of the State Government, and are guided by the priorities identified in the relevant South Australian Regional Development Australia (RDA) associations’ regional plans.

Congratulations to the District Council of Elliston – Elliston Additional Short Term Worker Accommodation and Services – Lock Project. The project will provide eight cabins to be used by grain processors T-Ports and Viterra during harvest, and also by workers at the gypsum mine.

Other local projects, T-Ports Lucky Bay Deepening, and Carramatta Holdings (Port Lincoln) were unsuccessful.

The Australian and South Australian Governments values the important contributions that RDAs and local governments make to the Australian community, and commends their advocacy for their local government areas and support for projects in their regions.
