On 23 May, the Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Tim Whetstone announced the opening of consultation on the formation of a statewide Regional Development Strategy, to shape the long term direction of regional South Australia.
This is a great opportunity to develop a long term strategy for our regions – one that will support continued economic growth and improved liveability so that people are supported in their decision to live in the regions.
Consultation is now open which gives stakeholders, communities and individuals the opportunity to provide feedback into the formation of the strategy, through a discussion paper which poses important questions to be considered.
An independent Community Advisory Panel has been appointed to lead the engagement process and gather the feedback provided. The panel includes Eyre Peninsula representation by way of Tumby Bay Mayor Sam Telfer who is the current President of the Local Government Association of South Australia. A YourSay consultation is now open with details on how input can be provided.
Further to online consultation, engagement will also occur through community forums being held across the state in June and July. These forums will provide key stakeholders and community members with the opportunity to present their feedback to the Community Advisory Panel.
Eyre Peninsula stakeholder and community forums will be held at the following locations:
- 24 June – Port Lincoln Hotel, Port Lincoln
- 10 July – Ceduna Foreshore Hotel, Ceduna
- 25 July – Westland Hotel Motel, Whyalla
Consultation closes on Friday 26 July 2019.
